The fifteenth session of the Conference of Ministers and Heads of Planning of Latin America and the Caribbean and the sixteenth meeting of the Regional Council for Planning of the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning will take place in the Convention Centre of the Hilton Hotel.

General information on Peru

Location

The Republic of Peru is located at the western tip of South America. With a surface area of 1,285,215.6 km and an estimated 31.77 million inhabitants, Peru is the twentieth largest country in the world in terms of territory. Peru shares borders with five other South American countries.

Weather

In contrast to other equatorial countries, Peru is not exclusively tropical; instead, it possesses a wide range of climate types. The weather in Lima is particularly atypical, in that it combines practically no rainfall with warm temperatures, which average 19°C over the year.

The fifteenth session of the Conference of Ministers and Heads of Planning of Latin America and the Caribbean and the sixteenth meeting of the Regional Planning Council of ILPES are being organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Government of Peru, through the National Centre for Strategic Planning (CEPLAN).
